  • Dr BEH Swan Gin

    Dr BEH Swan Gin

    Dr Beh was appointed Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) on 1 December 2014. He also chairs the Boards of Directors of EDB Investments and EDBI.

    Dr Beh was Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Law from 1 July 2012 to 30 November 2014. The Ministry of Law is responsible for legal policy; the development of the legal sector including regulation of the legal profession; intellectual property policy; land policy; the provision of services such as bankruptcy administration, public trustee services, community mediation and legal aid; as well as the regulation of moneylenders and pawnbrokers.

    Prior to the Ministry of Law, he had been Managing Director of EDB from 1 August 2008 to 30 June 2012. He joined EDB in November 1992 and held various portfolios over the years including leadership roles in the development of Singapore’s Biomedical Sciences industry cluster, as well as overseas assignments in EDB’s North American operations.

    In 2006 and 2007, Dr Beh also held concurrent appointments as the Executive Director of the Biomedical Research Council at the Agency for Science, Technology & Research, as well as the Director of the Ministry of Trade & Industry’s Energy Planning Division.

    Dr Beh is a medical doctor by training and graduated from the National University of Singapore. He is also a Sloan Fellow with a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, and completed the Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School.

    He is a Board Director for Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd, which is listed on the Singapore Exchange, as well as The Esplanade Co Ltd. He is a member of the Strategy and Advisory Boards of the Singapore Management University’s Lee Kong Chian School of Business. He is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation.

  • CHU Swee Yeok

    CHU Swee Yeok

    Ms Chu joined EDBI Pte Ltd, EDB’s dedicated investment arm, as its Chief Executive Officer in late 2008. She has over 25 years of track record and extensive experience in equity investments of start-up to growth and late-stage ventures, as well as strategic planning, business and technology development for industries. She is responsible for transforming EDBI into an active strategic investor supporting the fast growing innovative sectors of Information & Communication Technology, Biomedical Sciences, Smart & Sustainable Technology, and other strategic sectors.

    Prior to EDBI, Ms Chu was the CEO of Bio*One Capital Pte Ltd. Under her leadership, Bio*One Capital became a globally recognised and reputable investment entity, with a significant portfolio of companies and funds worldwide. Ms Chu previously held senior positions at EDB and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) where she played a pioneering role in developing major policies and executing the industry, research and commercialisation strategies leading to the growth of the Biomedical sector and its contribution as a major pillar of Singapore’s economy today.

  • Gautam BANERJEE

    Gautam BANERJEE

    Gautam Banerjee is a Senior Managing Director and co-Chairman of the Blackstone Asia Operating Committee. He is also Chairman of Blackstone Singapore.

    Gautam’s non-executive corporate roles outside of Blackstone include serving as an independent director of Singapore Airlines, GIC (Singapore’s Sovereign Wealth Fund), The Indian Hotels Company and Piramal Enterprises. He also serves as a vice chairman of the Singapore Business Federation, member of the Singapore Legal Service Commission and Chairman of raiSE, the Centre for Social Enterprise in Singapore. Gautam’s other roles in the “not for profit sector” include being a term trustee of SINDA and a member of the governing Board of Yale NUS College.

    Previously, Gautam served as Executive Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Singapore for nine years until his retirement in December 2012. He spent over 30 years with the firm in various leadership roles in Singapore, India and East Asia. His previous non-executive appointments have included serving as a member of the Economic Development Board and the National Heritage Board.

    Gautam is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and the Singapore Institute of Directors. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from Warwick University in 1977 and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) by the same University in 2014.

    Gautam was a Nominated Member of Parliament in Singapore from 2007 to 2009 and a member of the Singapore Economic Strategies Committee (2009/2010). He was awarded the Public Service Medal by the Singapore Government in 2014.

  • Gerard EE

    Gerard EE

    Mr Gerard Ee was a practising accountant for almost 30 years until he retired as a partner of Ernst & Young. Throughout his career, Gerard was also actively involved in the community. From the many committees he served, Mr Ee has covered the area of disabilities, rehabilitation of juvenile delinquents, fund raising, education and health related services.

    He had served as the President of the National Council of Social Service and held chairmanship of the Public Transport Council, Council for Third Age, the Singapore Institute of Management and the National Kidney Foundation.

    Mr Ee is currently the President of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, and the Chairman of the Charity Council, Changi General Hospital, Eastern Health Alliance and SIM University (UniSIM) Board of Trustees.

  • Sanjiv MISRA

    Sanjiv MISRA

    Sanjiv Misra is Chairman of the Asia Pacific Advisory Board for Apollo Management, the global private equity and alternative asset management firm. He is also President of Phoenix Advisers Pte Ltd, a boutique advisory and principal investing firm.

    He is an Independent and Non Executive Director on the Boards of Edelweiss Financial Services Limited, a BSE-listed company; Olam International Limited (SGX listed), where he is Chairman of the Capital and Investment Committee; OUE Hospitality REIT Management Pte Ltd (“OUE REIT”) and OUE Hospitality Trust Management (“OUE TRUST”), where he is Lead Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee (SGX listed). He is also a Member of the Board of EDBI Pte Ltd.

    Mr. Misra is a member of the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University (SMU), the SMU Enterprise Board, the Board of Directors of the National University Health System (NUHS); the Exco and Audit and Risk Committees of NUHS; and the Investment Committee of SMU. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Societal Leadership at SMU.

    Mr Misra spent his career in Investment Banking and general management at Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. He spent eleven years at Citigroup, from 1997 to 2008; most recently as Head of the Asia Pacific Corporate Bank (APCB) from June 2004 till May 2008. Prior to his appointment to this position, Mr. Misra served as the Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup’s Global Corporate and Investment Banking Group (GCIB) in Singapore and Brunei and Citigroup Country Officer for Singapore; Head of Asia Pacific Investment Banking; and Head of Equity Capital Markets for Asia-Pacific. Prior to joining Salomon Brothers in January 1997, Mr. Misra spent over ten years in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs & Co, in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

    He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a Master of Management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

    Mr. Misra is a citizen of Singapore.

  • QUAH Wee Ghee

    QUAH Wee Ghee

    Mr Quah is a director of the Singapore Stock Exchange and chairs its Risk Committee. He is also a director of OCBC Bank, Great Eastern Life Singapore and Bank of Singapore. He is currently a member of the GIC Investment Board after retiring as the President of GIC Asset Management. Mr Quah is also serving as the Chairman of MOHH Investment Committee (Ministry of Health Holdings).

    Previously, Mr Quah was a member of the Skill Development Fund Investment Committee (Ministry of Manpower) as well as the WDA Investment Committee (Singapore Workforce Development Agency). He was also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Community Assistance Fund (Ministry of Community, Youth & Sports). He also served as a director of the CPF board till 2010 and more recently, he stepped down as a Board of Trustee for Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and a director of the Singapore Labour Foundation (SLF).

    Mr Quah was awarded the IBF Distinguished FICP (Financial Industry Certified Professionals) title on 18 October 2010.

    Mr Quah holds a Bachelor of Eng (Civil Engineering) degree from the National University of Singapore. In addition, he is a member of the Charter of Financial analyst (CFA) from the Association for Investment Management & Research (AIMR). He is also an alumni member of the Stanford Graduate Business School.

  • SOH Gim Teik

    SOH Gim Teik

    Mr Soh Gim Teik advises corporations through his firm, Finix Corporate Advisory LLP, and has more than 35 years of experience in finance, corporate governance and strategic management. He was an Executive Director and CFO in a listed company and is currently serving as an independent director on the boards of several other listed companies.

    Mr Soh is a CA (Singapore) with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) where he is a Board member and Treasurer in the Governing Council. He had also served as a committee member in the Professional Accountants in Business Committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and was previously named the Best CFO of the Year at the Singapore Corporate Awards in the mid-cap category.

    He has a degree in Accountancy from the University of Singapore and is active in a number of non-profit organisations where he serves as a director and finance committee chairperson.

  • Sir Richard SYKES

    Sir Richard SYKES

    Sir Richard Sykes is currently Chairman of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chairman of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, Chairman of the UK Stem Cell Foundation, Chairman of Omnicyte, NetScientific and the investment board of Deepridge Capital. He was appointed Chancellor of Brunel University in 2013.

    Prior to that, Sir Richard was Senior Independent Director and non-executive Chairman of ENRC from 2007 to June 2011, Chairman of NHS London from December 2008 to July 2010, Rector of Imperial College London from 2000 to 2008. He was a non-executive director of Rio Tinto plc from 1997 to 2007, and senior independent director from 2004 to 2007. He has over 30 years’ experience within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries field, serving as Chief Executive and Chairman of GlaxoWellcome from 1995 to 2000 and then as Chairman of GlaxoSmithkline until 2002.

    Internationally Sir Richard is Chairman of the International Advisory Board, A*Star Biomedical Research Council. He was awarded Honorary Citizenship of Singapore in 2004 for his contribution to the development of the country’s biomedical sciences industry.

    Sir Richard holds a number of degrees and awards from Institutions both in the UK and overseas. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society and Academy of Medical Sciences, and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Royal Society of Chemistry, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal College of Physicians. He is also President of the R and D Society, a position he has held since 2002.

    He is a Fellow of Imperial College London and the Imperial College School of Medicine, King’s College London and Honorary Fellow of the Universities of Wales and Central Lancashire.

    Sir Richard received a Knighthood in the 1994 New Year’s Honours list for services to the pharmaceutical industry.

  • TENG Ngiek Lian

    TENG Ngiek Lian

    Mr Teng Ngiek Lian is the founder of Target Asset Management Pte Ltd. Since its inception in April 1996, he has served as the Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer of the company. Prior to that, Mr Teng held many senior positions in the fund management industry including the Managing Director of Morgan Grenfell Investment Management (Asia) Limited, Managing Director of UBS Asset Management Pte Ltd and the Chief Executive Officer of Prime Partners Asset Management Group.

    During his previous appointments, Mr Teng was instrumental in launching a direct investment fund investing in Asia and several country funds investing in Indonesia, China, Pakistan and Korea. Before joining the fund management industry, Mr Teng worked for several industrial companies in Singapore and Malaysia, holding various positions including Joint-Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Financial Controller and Group General Manager. Mr Teng is an accountant by training. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrator (UK) and Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. He was a council member of the Singapore Society of Financial Analysts between 1992 and 2002.

  • YEOH Keat Chuan

    YEOH Keat Chuan

    Mr Yeoh Keat Chuan is currently the Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) (appointed since 1 July 2012). Prior to this, he was the EDB’s Assistant Managing Director, responsible for investment promotion efforts in a number of industry sectors.

    Mr Yeoh has held several Director-level positions in the EDB since 2005, overseeing initiatives in divisions including the Americas and Biomedical Sciences Cluster. He joined the EDB as a Senior Officer in the Industry Development Division (Chemicals) in 1994.

    Mr Yeoh is a Glaxo-EDB scholar who graduated with a Masters of Engineering (Chemical Engineering), from Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine, University of London. Keat Chuan attended Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business Masters in Management Science program and graduated as a Sloan Fellow in July 2004.
