  • Dr Michael LAUFER

    Michael D. Laufer, M.D., is the founder of more than fifteen medical companies and his inventions are the subject of over 200 issued or in process patents. He is the Founder of Asthmatx, Inc. Dr Laufer is also the Founder and past or present Director of VNUS Medical Technologies, Broncus Technologies and several other private companies. 

    He was the Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at UCSF Mount Zion Medical Center in San Francisco, and is a member of the academic and clinical faculty at Stanford University, and of Harvard Medical School. He is a founding partner of MachLabs, LP, a venture capital firm.

    Dr Laufer is a graduate of the University of Colorado, B.S. in Biological Sciences - MCDB, with distinction, and the Stanford University School of Medicine, M.D. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA and did a post-graduate fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center.

  • Dr Göran A. ANDO

    Dr. Ando brings over 35 years of experience as one of the most respected leaders in the global pharmaceutical industry. He was formerly the Chairman of the Board of Novo Nordisk A/S and has held various senior positions at major pharmaceutical companies. 

    Dr. Ando was the former Research and Development Director at Glaxo Group Research, and then assumed the position of Executive Vice President and President of R&D at Pharmacia Corporation with added responsibilities overseeing manufacturing, IT, BD and M&A.

    He was named CEO of Celltech Group PLC, a European biotech company which was acquired by UCB Pharma for $3 billion in 2005. Dr. Ando holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Uppsala University and Doctor of Medicine degree from Linköping University in Sweden.

    Sir Richard is currently Chairman of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chairman of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, Chairman of the UK Stem Cell Foundation, Chairman of Omnicyte, NetScientific, PDS Biotechnology Corporation and the investment board of Deepridge Capital. He was appointed Chancellor of Brunel University in 2013.

    Prior to that, Sir Richard was Senior Independent Director and non-executive Chairman of ENRC from 2007 to June 2011, Chairman of NHS London from December 2008 to July 2010, Rector of Imperial College London from 2000 to 2008. He was a non-executive director of Rio Tinto plc from 1997 to 2007, and senior independent director from 2004 to 2007. He has over 30 years’ experience within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries field, serving as Chief Executive and Chairman of GlaxoWellcome from 1995 to 2000 and then as Chairman of GlaxoSmithkline until 2002.

    Internationally Sir Richard is Chairman of the International Advisory Board, A*Star Biomedical Research Council. He was awarded Honorary Citizenship of Singapore in 2004 for his contribution to the development of the country’s biomedical sciences industry.

    Sir Richard holds a number of degrees and awards from Institutions both in the UK and overseas. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society and Academy of Medical Sciences, and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Royal Society of Chemistry, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal College of Physicians. He is also President of the R and D Society, a position he has held since 2002.

    He is a Fellow of Imperial College London and the Imperial College School of Medicine, King’s College London and Honorary Fellow of the Universities of Wales and Central Lancashire.

    Sir Richard received a Knighthood in the 1994 New Year’s Honours list for services to the pharmaceutical industry.

  • FOO Jixun

    Mr Foo is currently the Managing Partner at GGV Capital, having joined the firm in 2006. He has more than 15 years of experience in venture capital investing, focusing on the online travel, mobile transportation, and on-demand service sectors. Mr Foo has led key GGV’s investments such as Qunar, Youku-Tudou and UCWeb. Prior to joining GGV Capital, Mr Foo was a Director at Draper Fisher Jurvetson ePlanet Ventures, where he led investment efforts in Asian companies such as Baidu.
    Mr Foo graduated from the National University of Singapore with a First-Class Honors degree in Engineering, and received a M.Sc. in Management of Technology from the university's Graduate School of Business. He ranked 35th on The Forbes Midas List in 2015, and has been recognized by Forbes China as one of the “Best Venture Capitalists” every year since 2006. Mr Foo was recognized as one of the Top 10 Venture Capitalists by Zero2IPO, and was named "VC Professional of the Year" by the Asian Venture Capital Journal.

  • QUAH Wee Ghee

    Mr Quah is currently a Founding Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Avanda Investment Management Pte Ltd. Mr Quah was the President of GIC Asset Management and a member of the GIC Board. After his retirement in 2011, he served as the Chairman of the India and Natural Resources Business Groups and as a member of the Investment Board of GIC until 2015.

    Prior to joining GIC in 1987, he was a system engineer with and has chaired several reviews regarding technology matters for companies.

    Since 2011, Mr Quah has been serving on several boards including those of the Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC), Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited, EDBI Pte Ltd, and chairs the endowment of the MOH Holdings Pte Ltd. He has also served on the boards of the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Singapore Labour Foundation (SLF) and Singapore Stock Exchange, as well as the board of the Central Provident Fund (CPF), and on the investment committees of the Workforce Development Agency (WDA), SingHealth and Silver Jubilee Fund in Singapore. For his contributions to the public service, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal in 2002. He was also awarded the Distinguished Financial Industry Certified professionals for Fund Management in 2010.
